Seven innocent people killed since August to December from landmines

Locals have been innocent victims between the fight of Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and Tatmadaw since August to December of 2019.

According to the record of Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement form August to December 14, 2019, the causes and numbers casualties are that 7 dead from trampling on landmines and 22 injured from that explosive devices, 19 people were hit and 31 were dead in the clashes in Shan State.

The latest incident of landmines victim is Daw Aye Ngwe age 42, a resident of Wan Gai Die village, who stepped on a set mine by TNLA near the village on 14 November, was severely injured in her legs and brought to the Kyawkme hospital for an emergency.

The tragedies can be seen mostly in the townships of northern Shan State where TNLA launches their operations and having battles with Tatmadaw.

It is because ethnic armed groups are protecting themselves from Tatmadaw invading their area and with the intent to make the local people’s lives even harder to earn a living and stay in terror all the time.

RCSS/SSA had traced and found seven MM-2 landmines planted by Tatmadaw’s brigade 99 near Wan Wah village of Murng Mu region in Namtu Township, northern Shan State on 28 November.
