Chairman of RCSS/SSA attends 9th meeting of Joint Implementing Coordination Meeting
On 13 Aug 2020 the chairman of the Restoration Council of Shan State and Acting Team Leader of the Peace Process Steering Team (PPST), Gen Yawd Serk attended the 9th session of Joint Implementing Coordination Meeting (JICM), which was held at Myanmar International Convention Centre-I in Nay Pyi Taw.
All the leaders of other ethnic armed groups who signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreements (NCA), the state counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, and the Peace Commission members have attended the meeting.
In the meeting all participants had discussed issues and agreements for discussion format in the enforcement of the ceasefire; the NCA framework agreements that will be included in Part 3 of Union Accord; processes for beyond 2020 and table 1 of phase by phase implementation; approvals for fundamental agreements for building a Democratic Federal Union; further discussions between the NCA-S EAOs and the government; decisions on the schedules of the Union Peace Conference and the general issues.
The chairperson of National Reconciliation and Peace Center Daw Aung San Suu Kyi had given Peace Steering Prizes and certificate for peace negotiators to the leaders of the ethnic armed groups and the Peace commission members as recognition of the dynamic efforts on the leading role of Joint Implementing Coordination Meeting (JICM) from 2016 to 2020.
Chairman of the Restoration Council of Shan State and Acting Team Leader of the Peace Process Steering Team (PPST), Gen Yawd Serk, Chairperson of NRPC Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and Commander-in-Chief of Burmese Army Vice Senior General Soe Win gave opening and closing speech in the meeting.
